a commitment to learning in 2022

I had planned for 2022 to be a MASSIVE year of growth for my business. As 2021 was drawing to a close I found myself aching to tour possible storefronts and researching new cities that I could see my studio thriving in. After the craziness of christmas started to dissipate, I realized that these giant leaps I wanted to see my business take this year were not what I truly needed. Instead, when I sat down to write a list of goals for my 2022 I decided my word of focus for the year.

LEARNING

In 2022, I want to spend as much time as I can learning from those around me and taking courses that will improve my business for years to come. I am still so green in the world and there is so much I have yet to learn about the business of art. The first area i found myself lacking were my photography skills.

For photography I enrolled in two courses already to increase the quality of my images and prints. I am excited to announce that I will now be able to offer portrait photography for the subjects of my child commissions in case the family does not have a recent professional photo. For the portrait photography I enrolled and completed Aaron Hogan’s Beginner Photography Class and wow did I realize how much of a beginner I truly am! It was delightful to have hands on teaching from such an experienced photography who was so generous with their time and expertise.

For my product and flat-lay photography I have just enrolled in the Slay the Flat-lay Course from Lish Creative to find more dynamic and engaging ways to bring my work to life online and in print.

For the rest of the year I am excited to find new and exciting ways to connect with local businesses and other experts in their field through online and in person courses.

If you have ideas of what else I should learn this year, leave me a comment below with your recommendations.
